    Default Free Content

I would love free content for my website...but we all know that it is not the amount of content on your website but that the content is unique which is most important.

The tools of a site can be mass market, but the content needs to be unique.

Default Be careful about duplicate content.

Copying articles to your site might be easy, but the search engines are quite sophisticated at picking up on this. Your site, or at least the duplicated content can be negatively impacted in search positioning. As just stated in previous post, there is no substitute for original content of interest to your site visitors. Even if you have to hire a college student to write it for you, it's much better than copying content.

I don't think it is a negative impact, but a 'no credit' issue. Also, I believe that some dup content is ok, as long as the site as a whole has unique content. IMHO

I would have to agree that some duplicate content is alright as long as it has very useful information for your audience. It won't help you with the search engines but may provide valuable information that your consumers might be looking for.

If you are going to use Duplicate Content, make sure you more have unique content on the site to help boost your positioning on the search engines.

Agreed. Additionally, I suspect Google (and the other search engines) are getting sophisticated enough to rank a website based on it's usefulness as seen through a visitor's view, albeit, Google's algorithms.

I agree with VegasRealEstate. If you are interested in helping your customers, this could not hurt (Assuming that the content is accurate)

    Default Google On Content

Here is what Google says about content:

Give visitors the information they're looking for
Provide high-quality content on your pages, especially your homepage. This is the single most important thing to do. If your pages contain useful information, their content will attract many visitors and entice webmasters to link to your site. In creating a helpful, information-rich site, write pages that clearly and accurately describe your topic. Think about the words users would type to find your pages and include those words on your site.

    Default Content, content, content

I agree with the last comment... First you have to ask yourself, what are you putting the content there for? Just for SEO purposes or as good information to your visitors. The thing is, Google is hip to people just adding things to their site for SEO purposes. You can look at some Real Estate sites and at the bottom of the page they have like 5,000 links for other Real Estate related sites. Are those links really there for your visitors? no they aren't, they are there for SEO purposes. Google knows this. Besides it makes your site look like crap...but some people still don;t realize it. Content is meant for reading, not for SEO purposes. So I believe if you are putting the content there for informing your visitors about something you feel is useful to them, then you can't go wrong. I was just looking for free Real Estate Articles to add to my site and I found this thread. If anybody knows of places where I can grab real estate articles from, or if you are in the real estate profession and have written some yourself I will put some on my site.
    Thanks

From the point of view of a consumer, if I were checking out a real estate website and read an article of interest - and then saw the same exact article on another real estate website - I would not think highly of either site. Additionally, if I see spelling and grammar errors on a website of any kind, it tells me that the business owner (of any kind of business) is sloppy and does not pay attention to detail. And I will move on........
