Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

Is it better to build in this economy if you can't find what you need? My family and I are in a bit of a spot. We have outgrown what we thought was going to be the house we would stay in for many years. But now we need 1-2 extra rooms, extra garage bays, the way the septic is situated on the lot adding a pool and addition is near impossible, and how other things were done when this house was built make it more trouble than it's worth to add on. So, we've just been looking for another property.

But we can't find a thing that works for us that's even close to move in ready and doesn't need a ton of work like this house did.

So, would you keep looking for a house that exists, or try to find a lot and build? Construction loans are tougher to get around here I believe too.
