Why Do You Blog
Why do people here have a blog? Are you trying to achieve goals and results with your blog or are you "just blogging"?

I blog to build exposure, authority, backlinks, and sometimes just to get things out of my head and on paper so I can move on to the next. Many people don't understand the importance of blogging and relevance in building your business. Blogging will help you to establish a presence in your local industry, educate home buyers and other agents around you, and draw people to product or service you are marketing. Blogging has become an integral part to any business, small and large.

You have a page rank 2 , let's presume it's because you have a real estate website/blog and google connects the dots and says this is all real estate stuff, we should give him some points.......why are you talking about car or suv?
In theory, your article is aimed at someone who is thinking about changing their car because it is drinking too much gas........not someone who needs a home with an extra bedroom because a 3rd child is on the way.
You can easily write a similar article on finance which will be beneficial to your website ranking and any site visitors who are in the market for a new home.
How often has a guy come in to your office to buy a new car and you sold him a house?
If you want to set up a category "Life in Dallas" and post general stuff in there about gas prices skyrocketing - will they come down (and downunder, we are paying $2 a gallon more than u r) then fair enough but writing "opinion" pieces about which mode of transportation to get...thats wasting your time.

hey matt, this is just one blog out of about 10 I have spread through all my sites on net. This one in particular was actually created for distribution through free ezine artilces to build backlinks, with some specific to automobile industry. Of course, regardless of industry you are in, this is a hot topic that will entice any reader to visit your blog.
A Blog can be on just about any topic and every post does not have to be specific to product/service you are marketing. IMO, Sometimes you need to think "outside the box" and use different angles to accomplish short and long term goals, which is basically what it all comes down to. For instance, what was your goal or what benefit did you expect to receive by posting this thread?Dallas Fort Worth Real Estate Brokerage offering assistance buying, selling, renting Commercial and Residential properties throughout the DFW Metroplex.

Dallas, the idea of the thread was to help people. I got the impression that many people who make a blog posting do as you did and just post for the sake of blogging.
You said it was a hot topic..I'll ask you a cpl questions.
1. Who is going to read it?
2. How will they find it to read?
car or suv.....cant imagine too many wil type that into google.
you post 3x a month, can't believe you have a list as long as your arm of regular readers.
So, you spent 30-60 minutes writing an article about gas prices. 0 websurfers can find it, why did you write it again? oh yeah, thinking outside the box........here's a tip, make sure something is happening inside the box before you start worrying about thinking outside the box.
As i said in my original post to you about your blog, you have a page rank 2, you can build on that with more real estate content........instead you write about cars/gas prices.....that's wrong unless you have a large reader base.
You sounded like you got pi$$y the first time, sorry, i generally just say what i think.......even if im wrong
.........just trying to pass on advice i think will help. You can stick to your guns, and im sure you will, but i do think for the majority, they should try to write about what they are doing/selling/promoting.

matt, no worries here, I enjoy a good debate and i say what i think as well. IMO it sounds like you have a little chip on your shoulder, esp. judging by your response here and to a home buyer lanelle that posted a question in another post. Also sounds like the intention of this thread you created was "just for the sake of a post" and to get another link under your belt.
The car vs suv post is the only one in the entire blog that is a little off RE base, which you would have found if you looked past 1st post. That particluar blog is also in top ten google for dallas real estate blog along with one of my other sites. again, that particular post was mostly intended for link building and used to distribute to free ezine articles which when approved eventually creates more backlinks down the road when others use to post free content on their websites/blogs.
1. Who is going to read it? people who are interested in the gas crisis or considering purchasing a suv or car
2. How will they find it to read? through dozens of ezine articles and through other users who use article to post on their site. (again just trying to help you think "outside the box" Typing something in on google is not the only way someone will find product or service you are marketing)
Everyone's goal is to rank for main keywords of focus and bring in traffic which will hopefully translate into a sale down the road, how you get there is dependent entirely upon your goals and strategies. I'm more focused on people that type in dallas real estate as opposed to car or suv in the SEs, and if you look at the "big picture" the post car vs. suv helped me reach my goal for ranking #7 google and #1 yahoo for my main city real estate search that brings in most traffic. Just trying to help you see another perspective, but sounds like you will be stickin to your guns as well.....Dallas Fort Worth Real Estate Brokerage offering assistance buying, selling, renting Commercial and Residential properties throughout the DFW Metroplex.

I'm not going to waste anymore time on this. Much of what you said is simply incorrect and poor advice to anyone who has or is thinking about starting a blog. Even your "results" the google one is on the back of the donnahomes page not your articles. But you can think what you want, its your time your wasting at the keyboard.
ps. the girl with a bad credit history, i did ask a question in that post which IMO puts her asking about tax deductions in perspective.

Blogging serves a wide array of features for me. First off, search engines love them since they are a great source for continuously updated content, which gets your blog indexed very quickly in the engines. Second, people think of blogs in a similar way that search engines do, they go to them for updated content. That means that (providing you have quality content), you will have better chances of getting repeat visitors versus passers-by. Third, blogging is very easy to implement and update (especially if you are not familiar with HTML or other web programming languages).

some people think writing is therapeutic, and some blog only for the sake of helping their SEO, filling blogs with keywords for the search engines
