Default How important is Blogging to SEO?

How important is having a blog on your website as far as SEO goes? And what are the benefits? I am reading lots of mixed reviews. Thanks!

First off, let me state that I am not a professional SEO person and am merely stating what I have read. The jist of what I have gotten about blogs and their benefit for SEO is new and fresh content. I believe that Google and other search engines like the fact that a site is constantly updated and is active. I think that because dynamic websites are becomming more prevelant they are viewed a bit higher (but of course this is not set in stone and I could be wrong). But think that the new content shows the search engines that the owner of the site is constantly improving and adding content to it and thus making it a greater benefit to the end user.

That's what I understand is the purpose too. But also it keeps people coming back that aren't necessarily looking for a home (I have a search option on my page). They can comment on the blog which benefits them (because they post their link), but keeps the traffic on my page, which benefits me. I am in the middle of working on my website now, so my page isn't a great example at the moment. But I'm working on it becoming one of the top ranked sites in my area. The last 6 weeks I have really focused on back linking and commenting on other blogs and keywords and it's amazing how I'm already popping up on the first and second pages for my keywords. I think whatever you can do to become more recognized is worth it. But you have to make sure the keywords you are after aren't saturated by competition.

With 75%+ of the population beginning their home searches online, the direct benefit of quality local blogging is being seen, then contacted, and representing the buyer/seller to a successful transaction. If you're not getting noticed, you better believe someone else in town is. If all else fails, check out what the successful agents do, and mimick them...there aren't many secrets in this business.

Default Blogging is a good Idea

Blogging is a good addition to your website because people know that you will be updating it with new content.

Blogging is really very helpful if you want to get more visitors as well as backlinks. These works like a mini site.

Blogging is not really that important but it is helpful - not all websites has blogs. My sites has blogs and the way I see them is another place to write things to your readers that may not be about your site but is relevant to your niche. It is a good place to write articles, news or updates about the industry that you are in.

I understand it's important to be out there adding to the community...such as writing stuff that is helpful and answering questions...just being helpful...and then, where possible, send a link back that is meaningful to the topic at hand....doesn't seem to be a concensus with this thread...of course, I am fairly new to the game...

Be sure to have an interest in blogging and not do it just for SEO. Most people who start blogs for the sole purpose of increasing SEO and not for the enjoyment of writing to your readers will have unsuccessful blogs. So only do it if you think you will enjoy doing it.
