Default Is NOT posting a bad thing?

We have a blog tied in with our website, and haven't posted anything on it for 10 months. Does anyone know if this hurts our Google ranking?

I think it has an effect on your serp in somehow. Other relevant sites that continue doing link building plus updating their blogs may outdo your rankings.

I am afraid it will affect the pr as the content should be updated constantly. your blog can be even banned for long silence.

I don't think pr (page rank) will be affected if your content is not updated constantly. PR is based on the quantity of inbound links. But if you mean pr (serp), then I think it has some effect.

Of course, it is a bad thing because whenever a visitor comes to your site, he saw that it is a blank blog. So, he wen away simply by closing your blog.

I agree with the posts above. The traffic going into your blog might decrease as your readers may stop visiting your blog since you are not updating it. I think you should still keep posting new articles to your blog regularly -- even if it is not on a daily basis.

It is necessary to keep your site topics updated so that you'll gain visitors.

Well, I am afraid...it is. I do not like to see a 6-month-old post on the top of a blog! Also, if you post regularly, you get the chance to appear in the Google Blog Search, Real time search etc.

Spiders love to eat fresh content; regular posting can boost your PR/rank etc.
