Great post jennie! Really, Blogging is a way where people can share their thoughts and get something better opinion from others. I think something important what you get from commenting on blog is new ideas and new contacts as you said.

commenting on other blogs definitely helps. Not only your comments get indexed by google, you get to show your expertise by commenting. And the best thing is when you get comments on you blog posts, it looks like a well visited site for new visitors and they are likely to come back. by the way, don't forget that a good, organized, purposeful blog post is the main ingredient to attract people.
