Default Blogs / Forums? Pros & Cons?

What is more useful for a website? Of-course both creating dynamic pages with updated content, I am curious as to what is more useful in a sense as far as Google PR? I have seen forums have always worked. I have little knowledge as far as the blog. Can any one here elaborate on some of the pros & Cons?

    Default Blogs and Forums

Are you specifically asking about having your own forums and/or blogs or commenting on them?

My experience is that relevancy is key in upping your Google rank. A topic that has specific information and is found on an discussion board is almost always helpful, while blogging putting relevant information causes back-links to your blog and that itself will undoubtably help your rank (make sure your topics have permanent URL's so relevant articles can be found - sometimes called permalinks)

For my 2 cents, if you have the time do both.

in addition it is right to have a updated contents for a dynamic site but you have to be aware that it is hard to have rankings for a dynamic site.

well blog is different from forums, in blogging..they express their thoughts and ideas in something..in forums, it's like sharing or asking ideas..
