I would imagine that this is a daunting task for most!! I know a guy that was hawking vitamins for Amway a few months ago .... now he's now an SEO Expert!!!! Snake Oil comes in many forms.

You might find someone that will work under a 'pay for performance' status.

I had a SEO Marketing firm contact me saying they could get me to the top of Google. I started to asked them a few questions which they had a hard time answering. As it turns out they would create a google adwords account for me and set up a keywords campaign and charge me a hefty markup for doing that.

Be very careful when you hire SEO.

Yes, that's the most popular scam! I've had many clients fall for that one.

Do it yourself, if your an entrepreneur or small business owner that wants an online presence, then do it right, read up and get going.

Once you have decided to put your business online, you have to make some very important decisions. These decisions include the design of your website, its content, and the marketing of your web site. Just because you put up a webpage does not mean anyone will come to it. Even if you pay a designer a lot of money to make a very nice-looking website, you will still need proper search engine optimisation for the search engines to index your website.
