    Hi UCLA,

    For real estate, starting out find out who has the market share in your area and go have a sit down with the principal broker(s). Real estate is a learn by default, it cant be taught in a book.
    Appraising is a different dog. You have to find an appraiser who is willing to "let you in" the business and be his slave for a couple of years.
