I wanted to see if anyone out there could assist me in gathering some info on a modular home.

I currently live in Massachusetts and am in the process of looking for a house. I am looking at old homes as well as new homes.

One area I do not know much about and have tried to gather information on is the process of building a modular home. I have read a number of places that modular is cheaper than a standard stick build.

With that being said, I know that this topic can vary greatly. What I am looking for is rough prices/information for a standard modular (per square foot) from someone who has gone through the process. The issue that I have found is that most of the information you find is from the modular companies which can be deceptive (like buying a car, they advertise a price different that what it actually is).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Default Modulars

Some of these modular home are georgeous. My kids are looking at new homes and this was one of the options that they wanted to explore. The show homes are beautiful but the upgrades is where they will get you. They will give you a basic price for the home and then if you want to purchase the home as shown the price go up considerably. This one home we went into the upgrades included the fireplace, an interior wall, paint colors, ceiling height (livingroom was 10' instead of the 8' ceilings) and on and on. It was a georgeous house but by the time the cost of land to put it on, digging a basement (must have in MO), utilities....it was actually cheaper to purchase a stick built home.
    Just our opinion.
