Confused
I live in Ohio, my husband and I are going to purchase a home. We are confused on a something. We looked up the property on our county auditor's site. The sale date is the date that the home was purchaed correct? So what is the Deed Date? For example, this person has a sale date of 2000 and the Deed date is 2004 , what is the difference? I know this may be trivial but Im just trying to understand it more. Thanks!

It could be that the did a refi or added someone to the deed... good for you to pay attention to the details

deed
You can record a deed any time you want, usually when you purchase the property is best time to record the deed. It has no relevance at all, many things could have happened.

Could have also been a change in the name of the owner. Ex. a divorce, death in the family, etc... Most likely though it was a refinance as stated in the other post...
