Real Estate Agent
Supreme, it is definitely a great time for anyone to be looking at becoming a real estate agent. I would say however, it is very much a full time job and requires alot of time, effort, and monies.
With our team in Minnesota, we do have some agents who are in their 20s. I do not believe that age is a disadvantage at all. There are so many aspects of this business agents can work on: short sale listings, REO, real estate investors, first time home buyers, etc.
In regards to your local real estate market, contact a top agent or team in your area. Sit down with him or her to go over the specifics of the business and their company.
He or she will also let you know what properties and MLS listings are being bought in your area.
Best of luck to you! It is a great time to be a real estate agent and real estate broker. A lot of hard work no doubt, but for those who want to succeed, there is plenty of opportunity available.Minnesota MLS & Minneapolis MLS Search homes for sale in Minneapolis, St Paul at MN Multiple Listing Service. What I did when I started out is I went out there and found a good, reliable, and renowned real estate agent, who has been in the business for more than 15 yrs. You sit down and talk, and if you can, you should start for working for him/her, even at least a couple of hours a week first. Later, if you prove yourself, you might get to work more, but the most important thing is: you'll learn every minute you spend doing the job! Eventually, besides intelligence, time and experience will make you a good real estate agent.

1) Isn't your commission the same no matter how many sales you make? Or maybe I'm not understanding your question...
2) Your age shouldn't matter too much, but the age of your 'network' will matter. Why? I guess my question is how many 19YOs are buying homes, especially with credit being what it is? Now if you RE office also handles rental property, you could get commissions finding renters.
3) If your local newspaper has an online edition, search it for articles regarding RE in the area. Many times articles are written describing the market. You can also search Realtor.com, Trulia, etc. to see how many listings there are in a given area.
Good luck!
