Acquiring a mortgage while having a land contract on a separate property
I have a question:
We have a chance to obtain property up north on a land contract with others through a mutual acquaintance. It's a great deal, and we are looking very seriously at obtaining the property at a very nice price. Current terms are for 15 years, all parties equal rights on the conract, etc.
Our only hesitation is: we currently rent our home and intend to obtain a mortgage within the latter half of this year.
Would having a land contract affect the possibility of getting a new mortgage? Again, the lc is on property in another county than where we reside.
I can not find any information regarding holding an lc and it having a negative affect on a separate morgage application, but we need to be certain before we agree with the other parties for the property up north.
Obviously, if it will put a road block on our owning our home, we're not going to pull the trigger on the northern property.
Thanks in advance for any input.
