House with Balcony from washroom
We recently saw a plan for a new home from a builder. Everythings great except that the balcony on the second floor opens from the washroom. The balcony has French doors opening to outside, but these French doors are inside the washroom which is attached to the bedroom. And there are no doors to the balcony from the bedroom. So if we need to get into the balcony, it can only be through the washroom. Is this normal? Has anybody seen such plans before? We really want to buy this house plan, but we are also concerned whether the balcony issue will devalue the house when it comes to reselling the house in the future? Let us know if you feel this is a big issue.. P.S: In the plan, the washroom is on the left hand side, balcony door in the middle of the house and bed room resides on the right hand side. The toilet is on the far left, then comes the doors, tub and sink are behind the doors.

Well....
If it seems strange to you it will probably seem strange to a number of potential buyers. Are there any other homes in the area with the same design? Are you being represented by an agent? I have seen it before but I agree it is a strange design.

Re: House with Balcony from washroom
Obviously, this is a strange design. Normally we are not used to such living conditions. But as time passes we get used to it.

This is a design flaw that bothers you. The builder is trying to squeeze in design elements that they feel the public wants even when impractical. Round peg in the square hole.
This reflects poorly on the builder.
If I were you I would think twice about this floor plan and the builder.Your Outer Banks real estate agent. Learn how to buy Outer Banks foreclosures.
