Default FHA Loan but house has chinese drywall

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this question, but here it goes:

I live in Florida, I bought a house, and its my first home so I went with FHA. I got approved, I got the loan, I got the house. Two months into living in the house, I was up in the attic, and I saw a piece of drywall and I was able to see the side tape with the brand, I researched and its the BAD kind, I still havent called an inspector for a Full drywall inspection, but my question is, is there something I can do? Like notify FHA or something? Cause I imagine changing the drywall all over the house is going to be expensive....

Details about the house: Its a 5/3, on a 6000 sqft lot. Living space is 2100 sqft. I paid 120,000. It came with new carpet, new A/C, new appliances, new sliding doors.

I know very little about all this, so any information or help will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks again.

Default Just a couple of things

    Hi Jorge,

    1. Check out http://www.chinesedrywall.com and see if you might get an answer from here. Sounds like there was a lawsuit against the manager and that you may have a remedy to the situation.

This doesn't discount calling the FHA department to see if they are also a resource for help.

    2. Also doesn't mean you shouldn't involve a lawyer regarding the Transfer of the property to you if the prior owner new of this and did not disclose it properly to you. The Realtors Association might be able to help with the resources and even their own internal victims fund (Paid by yours truly ).

That's just a few to start with,
    Best,
    John

Hi John, thank you so much for replying.

I will look into the link you told me.

Regarding the thing you said about the seller not disclosing, the problem is that it was a Foreclosure, the bank sold me the house, I did an inspection, and the inspector's report didn't say anything about that.

I heard from someone, that in some cases, FHA has forced a new appraisal on the house, and knowing that it has Chinese drywall, the value goes down, and FHA forces that seller to return part of the money, but I don't know how true this story is...

    Thanks again for your advice
