As an agent, How do you use the internet to advertise your properties?
I am just curious to know different ways in which agents use the internet to drive traffic to their listings? Are you active in forums such as activerain, do you list your properties on Real Estate Search engines such as Trulia or oodle or even YouTube?

Organic optimization...
Hi Julie,
I advertise on the web organically. I make sure that the content of my website really does include information regarding Investing Real Estate in Buffalo, NY, since that is what my company specializes in. I try to optimize my website as much as I can. Seldom, do I pay for internet ads.Specializing in Real Estate Investing - Buffalo, NY

Everything you mentioned and more. Don't forget to throw social sites such as twitter, facebook into the mix as well as multiple blogs & syndication sites. Must work on the organic results as cfbinc mentioned. It would take forever to list everything I do but since you mentioned activerain, I would suggest using that site to research what you can do to help market real estate on the internet effectively.

I simply made my website and created a link in my social networking accounts. This have been the most effective for me since most my customers contact me via facebook or twitter.

Is it a good idea to start creating a web presence and be familiar with the tools before getting a license or put my efforts in a different area?

I used Youtube for my Social Media presentations. It helps a lot because you can promote your properties and explain well through videos. One more is social networking, you can share your sites and video presentation in order to drive traffics on your site.

Julie, you first might want to distinguish between marketing and advertising, because they are two different things. Advertising is a marketing tool.
In terms of ways to drive traffic, all of the suggestions/examples you mentioned are good ideas. My number first suggestion would be to implement a proper SEO strategy. You'll find lots of good info on different SEO techniques throughout these forums.

Depends what kind of listing? If its a listing for lease, craigslist could be a great way to get exposure plus its free. If you're selling a property, then I would list it on zillow, trulia, oodle, facebook, etc.

Realtors can use valuable resources online to market their listings through such sites as postlets, zillow, realtor.com, and trulia. More and more home buyers are turning to the web before purchasing a home. It's crucial to advertise online.
