    Default Real Estate Photography

Just wanted to know if real estate agents ever hire professional photographers for up scale home photos? This is an area I would like to get into as a photographer, I love real estate and I love photography...but am wondering if there is a market for it? What about homeowners...do they hire a photographer, or just use a small digital and are happy with that?
What do you all think - is there a market for this service out there?

I could see interest in higher-end homes in any given area. Photos could really get prospective buyers interested - almost like 'digital curb appeal' (where they wouldn't have to physically drive by the home). And the benefits to out-of-town buyers is there too.

I'm assuming you'd be paid by the listing agent -- have you tried contacting any? Check the papers/flyers/online for those agents that seem to deal in the higher-end listings. You'll need to somehow try to sell the ROI (since it'll be another cost to them; and they may not even end of selling the home).

Some brokers mandate a professional take photos of the high end properties they'll list.
Market? Probably not. Why not? Because everyone and their grandmother's a friggin photographer and most brokers nowadays wouldn't know a "good" photo from a "bad" one. Plus, most Realtors don't have the what six hundred, seven hundred dollars to shell out for a tripod and a box camera format? If you want to supplement your income, MAKE IT AFFORDABLE.

    Default Real Estate Photos

Lots of agents in my market use professional photography for pictures of all their properties. The only issue here is of course expense. They have to be good pictures and fit into the the marketing budget well. I myself ended up buying an professional camera and lenses as well as software to edit. I did this for the reason that they became very expensive. I also have a passion for photography so for me it works out well, but some agents could not be bothered and would prefer to hire someone.

Yes its very good thing if you are thinking to go but you need to be very skilled in your work and should be more innovative too. You have to create you portfolio as many big companies require your work exposure details.

Yeah skilled Photographer is very much required in Real Estate Industry.

Only words in hoardings, can not attract clients from different city. Not only hoardings, photographs are used in business websites, brochure etc. So perfect image can bring in the customer and finalize the deal, if handle properly.

There is a market for it, but it's small. Most real estate agents don't have the money to pay for professional photography. There is a company locally in my market that does a lot of real estate photography. They make interactive floor plans that go with the photos.

If you were willing to do it on the same contingency that the agents are working under that you only get paid if/when the home sells, it might get you more business
