renter leaves - legal advice
Hello,
My NYC apartments rental was rented to three roommates. They had a one year contract ending in April 4th, 2010. One of the tenants decided to leave without letting me or his roommates know his location. He did not leave a phone number or address to contact him. He also left, in the building, some of his furniture and an old car that does not run.
PLEASE! Does anyone have any advice for me as to what I can do legally in this situation? With the things left behind? Can I legally rent the apartment to someone else even though I have a contract with the three men mentioned?

Not an attorney
I can't give legal advice since I'm not licensed to do so (not an attorney) but I'd bet there's a legal forum to get that info.
As far as renting to someone else... re-visit your original lease terms... if that room-mate has defaulted on their agreement, then you can take action.
Good luck! Home ownership has great benefits but with any great reward there is a bit of risk... I'm sure you'll come out just fine, though.Learn how to make, up to, 40% Profit When You Buy Foreclosed Homes And Flip Them
