Default Would a real estate agent want to get involved with our home?

We have an older home that is need of quite a few repairs. I'm not even sure the house could sell in the shape it's in. And we are thinking of trying to sell. When we bought the home we thought we were up to the challenge of fixing this place up but financially things haven't panned out the way we hoped.

I'm wondering if there are homes out there, possibly ours being one of them, that Realtors try to avoid getting involved with?

We have issues with peeling lead paint, possible mold in the basement (not sure if it's mold or dirt seeping in with the water), basement is leaking from three spots along the walls and one spot up through the floor, chimney in attic needs $1500 worth of work, enclosed back porch seems to be sinking on one side because the floor is no longer level. Lots of plaster wall issues. Oh and cosmetically the interior of this home is just plain ugly.

In terms of getting this house to sell...is this a Realtors worse nightmare? I haven't contacted any local Realtors yet because I'm afraid he/she will not want to put up with the hassle of trying to get this place to sell. Spouse and I cannot afford to do much work to get it into a better selling condition.

If you can price it right, I would not avoid listing it. Some agents would avoid it because it may not be the typical listing for them, while others sell homes that may need work and would be glad to work with you. Just depends on the agent and the niche they work in. Call some local agents and discuss the home and what types of homes they are experienced in listing/selling.

    Good luck and best wishes!

Surely you will be able to find an agent to list the home for you. Price it accordingly due to the shape it is in.

or keep 100% of the commission - $50 for $350 a month. You choose.

There are a lot of agents who for sure will be interested to sell your house.Just ensure that you are giving a fair price.

A real estate agent would probably be fine listing it as long as you price it accordingly so you can attract the right buyer. It sounds like some one would have a tough time getting it financed, which will cut down on your buyer pool.

    Default Potential Mold

If you have any doubt to whether you have mold in your home I would highly recommend having a mold test completed. This isn't a situation where a do it yourself kit would be sufficient. Hire trained scientific personnel.

If you can offer good percentage of commissions into sales agent, he can agree to market your home. It depends on your deal.

I will suggest you to refer some online websites that are doing it for many years. They will help you in listing your house for sell and even help you in fast sale at the given price.

    Smile Great post...!

You make a great point. Most of the time people work with a Realtor for piece of mind or help with negotiation besides that its like giving money away.
