Lien Waiver and tax credit forms
A few weeks ago we had a new high-efficiency furnace installed, as well as a new central air system. The contractor was supposed to send us a lien waiver, but didn't. I've been bugging him and bugging him, but still haven't received it. We'll be putting our house in the market in a couple of days, and we're going to need it.
Is there any way to force him to give us the waiver?
Also, he said he'd filed the paperwork for a cash credit that's available through WE Energies in Wisconsin, but how do I know?
I called our city's building inspector the other day to get an answer to the waiver question, and found out that the contractor never even pulled a permit. I guess he figured he could pocket the $60 permit fee. The building department called him and read him the riot act. They also told him to give us a lien waiver, but I don't know what authority that office has over waivers.
Do I have any recourse with the waiver and the credit forms?
Thanks for any replies.

What a bummer!
I suppose my first step would be to call an attorney. Then my next step would be to see that this joker never worked in the business again. A little harsh I know, but he's obviously screwing with peoples lives.Aaron Catt--o2 Marketing Group

Well, I guess the call from the building inspector put the fear of God into the guy. He sent us the lien waiver along with a letter of apology.
The electrician came yesterday to finish the installation. I don't think he's going to forget to pull a permit or send us a lien waiver.
