Appropriate Buyers Agent Behaviour
I am writing in this forum, hopefully, to receive some feedback on how a buyer's agent is to perform their duty. My husband and I are in the middle of purchasing our first home together. Because of my large school loans we have chosen to have my husband take out the FHA loan for the purchase in his name only.
What has become obvious is an unequal level of respect for myself as compared to my husband. I have expressed several concerns about the property we are purchasing directly to our Buyer's Agent and had them completely disregarded, with some additional patronizing from her. I have had to resort to asking my husband to inquire for me about these concerns, since I was ignored.
I am disappointed that our Buyer's Agent is so unprofessional.
Not sure how to handle this situation. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow. Well miss, there are some things you can do. If you feel slighted, and you don't wish to confront your BA, you can go to their broker and ask them what her problem is. Explain calmly what happened and they'll have a talk with them. If her attitude doesn't improve, go to her broker again and ask for a new agent because "You're not comfortable with ______". That's all.
Good luck and remain calm.

Thanks
Thanks for the reply. We close on the property next week, so too late to switch agents. Oddly, my husband didn't like her when we first met, but I convinced him otherwise. Thanks for you reply,

There's really not a lot you can do at this point. Just grin and bear it I guess. The fact that she is not taking your concerns as seriously as she would if it were your husband bringing them up has less to do with her as an agent, and more to do with her as a person.

I am sorry you have had to deal with this level of unprofessional behavior. Personally, when knowing one party was not going to be on the loan I have always tried to get their input and direct questions to them specifically to make them feel as involved as possible.

That’s really sad to hear. I think you have chosen the wrong buyers agent. That is the reason you are facing those problems. First hire a good, experienced and professional buyer agent who is capable of handling any situations. Only then you will find the solution for all your problems. All the best and congrats in advance for your new house.

One thing you can obviously do once you close is to post a review of the agent in your local social media. Agents need to earn the respect of their clients... it's Rule #1. Postings on social media websites tend to stick around, so you could be warning others about this particular agent.

Real estate agent or broker should always act as professional anytime. It always happen that we encounter behavior like the agent that you mention.

If you weren't as far along in the process, I would recommend seeking a new (hopefully more professional) buyer's agent. Since you are only a week out from closing, I would just play the game the best you can and make sure to leave some negative reviews in your local social media to warn others about this unacceptable behavior.
