Default Gaining possession for a period of time without buying!

Is there a way to possess a property for a specific period of time, without buying it? For example putting an offer on the property contingent upon selling yours and the one you are giving the offer for within a year?

I have a 1/2 acre land which is not enough for commercial use (too small). My neighbor is selling his. I am wondering if I can give an offer to him contingent upon selling both!

Is there a specific form that you can use to do this?

    Thanks.

"Is there a way to possess a property for a specific period of time, without buying it?" -Yes.

"...For example putting an offer on the property contingent upon selling yours..." - Precisely.

"...and the one you are giving the offer for within a year?" -That's too long man, unless you have very understanding sellers - who don't exist.

"My neighbor is selling his. I am wondering if I can give an offer to him contingent upon selling both!" -Anything is possible man. Everything's negotiable. If your neighbor agrees, good for you. But don't count on it.

Get yourself a Realtor. Make an offer on your neighbors property contingent on your selling your land. Have that verbiage placed in the Offer to Purchase. IF your neighbor doesn't agree to the terms DON'T blame your Realtor. Don't go to his broker looking for a beef. Don't go crying to their broker looking for financial "compensation" for "lost time, pain and suffering" perpetuating the American litigious dream. I told you not to count on it. If we expect nothing, we'll never be disappointed.

    Good luck.

You are taking the long way around.

Just list your property for sale with the same agent who has the neighbors property listed and make your sale contingent on the sale of the other property.

If combining the properties increases their value discuss with your neighbor and their agent about combining both properties in one listing.

Why not to rent it? You will use it for some time and then you can buy it if you want. I think it's the best way out for you right now.
