Just google what you asked here.
There will be some agents contacting you from this forum who will say they know someone in the area who can help you but they will just google the same thing and then charge the other agent 30% of their commission to do so. You will get better service if you do it yourself and then your agent can get a whole paycheck.Your Outer Banks real estate agent. Learn how to buy Outer Banks foreclosures.

Looking for a REALTOR
The number of directories listing real estate agents run in the thousands so don't go with your first choice. Any agent you find, Google there name. If they are active online, you will find many results listed.

I'd have to disagree with you a bit here Greg. There is nothing wrong with an agent receiving a referral fee (30% is too high for sure though) and helping locate a good agent in an area for a buyer.
I'm certain that I have more qualifications as an experienced agent to identify other qualified agents in different markets. In fact, I'd offer that a first time home buyer has more to risk by 'finding an agent themselves' than asking a veteran agent to help them seek a qualified agent.
I can spot a terrible agent a mile away and just because someone shows up in a "google search" doesn't mean they have any qualifications above how to employ good SEO or set up a Pay-Per-Click account.
Referrals are very viable ways to find top agents. I've attended tons of trainings and educational courses over the last 5 years across the nation and have met some of the most competent trustworthy people in the business and would recommend them time and time again. Anyone willing to travel and spend thousands of dollars to educate themselves on how to run a better real estate business or how to become a better agent is generally superior to most of the folks who just satisfy their continuing education requirements a month before renewal. IN fact, I'm required to get 16 continuing ed credits every two years. This years renewal, I will have over 64 credits.
My best friend of over 20 years lives hundreds of miles away from me, but contacted me to find an agent in his area. I interviewed a handful of agents before connecting him with the agent he's with now, and my friend is extremely happy with his agents work.
That agent didn't have to work very hard to get the lead other than exemplify the capacity to be successful (which actually takes a lot of work) and he is happy to pay me a 25% referral fee for the opportunity to work with my friend.Aaron Catt--o2 Marketing Group
