Default How long is the wait after offer is made?

I have a realtor trying to sell my home. Once I get an offer, how long does it usually take before I can actually receive the money from the sale of the house? Thanks for any information.

Without knowing where the property is located or certain other relevant information, our replies will have to be pretty generic. If it's in the US, and it's not a short sale that needs bank approval, then the time-determining factor is the buyer's financing. If they are paying cash, then the sale can close as soon as all contract contingencies (if there are any) have been removed and the title work is done. If they are using a mortgage, then how much time elapses between the removal of all contingencies and the closing is dependent on how quickly the lender moves the paperwork along.

It may also make a difference whether the property is in an escrow state or a "live" closing state.

When you receive an offer, it will contain a proposed closing date.

Talk to your real estate agent. They know the particulars of your house and how things work in your area.

Thanks all. The house is in Washington state and is all paid off. I asked my brother last night and he said he thought it would be about 30 days. Hopefully, I will remember to ask my real estate agent this question too.

"Hopefully you will ask your agent"!!!! You talk to your brother and post on internet sites before you make inquiry of your professional?

All the smart sellers are using real estate professionals.

I would not say all the smart sellers are using a real estate professional to sell their property, but most are. If you have to ask if this can be done on your own, then you do not need to be attempting this very serious matter on your own.

And in this market, it is not the time to try to sell on your own.

I think it's better to involve RE agency. Legislation & disciplines of the state, financial documents, frauds, scams, insurance, tax and so on many things to cover. I think agency has many resources to solve all these in one place.
