Prepping an open house
I went home shopping with my mom last weekend and we looked at some open houses- I notice some that are empty needed some work- Just some general-type chores to make the house look nicer for the open house- Some houses needed grass cut, trimmed etc- I am wondering if real estate companies hire people to do this work- I would be interested in doing this on weekends for extra $$$ and I really think I could make some of the homes more appealing with some effort- How do I go about finding out about this and is this common practice?

Best bet would be to call the Realtor on the sign. The Realtor's incented financially to get the home sold... and if what you do might dress it up a bit, they might just put you in touch with the seller (who would have to pay for the work)

This is called "home staging" and a whole industry has developed around making houses for sale look better to prospective buyers.

Look up Barb Schwarz on the internet, she basically invented staging.
