Default Lawyer recommended by seller's agent?

What are the pros and cons for a buyer to use a lawyer referred by the seller's agent? Would the closing cost be likely split between seller and buyer this way, and no if you find your own lawyer? On the other hand, can you trust the lawyer who may be friend of the seller's agent?

    Default

Don't use the same lawyer as the seller. In NC if there is a problem the lawyer defaults to the seller and you will have to find another lawyer.

Lawyers are easy to find so interview a few and find one you like who is reasonable.

    Default pretty accurate...

Greg is correct, although technically the lawyer is always the lawyer of the seller, problems or no. A lawyer can't represent two parties in any kind of a negotiation.
