I'm currently a realtor at Prudential. Around 2 years ago, within months of getting my real estate license, I bought a multifamily (my first house) as an investment. I had never purchased or sold a house at the time and had no idea that the person I was buying it from was a known local con artist involved in predatory lending, mortgage fraud and falsified appraisals.

Needless to say I got burned badly on my purchase and now 2 years later I am making an attempt to short sale this disaster house before I have to foreclose.

As a realtor, I've heard conflicting stories that I can not list my own property if it is a short sale. Is this true or can I list it on my own? If not would I have to have another agent from my office list the property for me or could I use anyone?

In a way I'm almost tempted to have another agent list the property for me as it is quite embarrassing being a realtor and having to disclose that my property is a short sale.

Thanks again for any help.
