I found a HUD home in Michigan. The offer was accepted on the 16th of April; I paid $1000 in earnest money and my realtor over nighted the contract on the 17th. It's going on 2 weeks now and I have not heard anything from HUD. What the heck is taking HUD so long?

Also, copper theft is a major problem in this area. I'm worried since HUD is making me wait 60 days to close; based on the date our contract is returned. If someone strips the plumbing, I'll have to walk away since HUD won't cover the loss and I'll lose my earnest money.
