first time home buyer?
My question is, I am going to be buying a house in california within the next 8-9 months, i am engaged but not married yet, I want to be able to qualify for the first time home buyer cash incentives, but my fiance has already owned a home, so if I get married before we buy the house is there anyway for it to just be under my name and still receive the first time home buyer cash incentives?

My understanding is if you want to qualify for the tax credit you must purchase the home in your name only prior to getting married unless your fiance has not been a home owner with in the last three years then you would still both qualify as a first time home buyer. I would recomend you verify all this with your loan officer.

I don't see any way as such that allows you to avail the first time home buyer cash incentives! May be an expert in this regard would definitely help indeed!

If you buy after you are married then you will not qualify for the tax credit even if if goes under your name only.
