Escrow Question
Is it necessary for the escrow officer to have me fill out forms asking for all my personal information? They say it is used to prevent identy theft.

Its called an SOI (statement of information) and it is required. I can see where some of the info it asks for could be important but I personally think it asks for more than is necessary.

Delivery of a deed by a grantor to a third party for delivery to the grantee upon the happening of a contingent event. Modernly, in some states, all instruments necessary to the sale (including funds) are delivered to a third (neutral) party, with instructions as to their use.
Just be careful, if they ask too much information... inquire.

Another question about Escrow. Who is supposed to choose who the Escrow people will be? Seller, seller's agent, buyer, or buyer's agent or lender?

It usually is the seller's choice of service. Unless stated otherwise in the purchase offer contract by the buyer.
