The best place to put your house for sale is on your local MLS. All buyers eventually end up looking at what is for sale on the MLS before they buy.

The MLS
Thanks for your post. In this current real estate climate, I would highly encourage hiring a top real estate agent in your area to go to work for you.
He or he will market you home for sale on the MLS, and ensure that is also is placed on top local websites in your marketplace as well.
I hope this helps.Minnesota MLS & Minneapolis MLS Search homes for sale in Minneapolis, St Paul at MN Multiple Listing Service. We specialize in buying and selling residential and investment properties. Start Minnesota MLS search for all Minneapolis real estate for sale in Twin Cities, MN

I'm assuming if you are looking for free site to advertise on you probably aren't interest in listing your property. I suggest you go to Google and look for free real estate advertising websites. Use combinations of these word and you should find plenty of them. At one time I was advertising on about 8 of them. Can't think of any right now though.
Good luck,

Believe it or not when I'm home searching, I found the best home listings in the online major newspapers (Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times, etc.) which seem to be up to date as well. So, your home listing will be viewed both by those who have a computer and by those who don't. Of course, it's not free, as you like, but your home will appear to a wider range of buyers.

Try Trulia, Zillow and Craigslist. But you are going to get better results from biting the bullet and getting your home listed with a REALTOR so you can be on the MLS along with the more important benefit of professional help in all aspects of selling your home. Good luck with your endeavor!
