Post First of many I"m sure - Lafayette LA area

We aren't sure if we want to stay in town or out, but we are finding there are many older homes, what are the right questions to ask to assure we know if these homes have been well maintained?

Use a good building inspector before buying any home. Also talk to people in the neighborhood to get local knowledge about structures, utilities and so much more.

we've actually learned a lot about local utilities, i'm really in a mixed boat b/c of the hurricanes that come up through out the year. obviously these older homes are built solid, as they have survived the worst nature had to offer. i guess i'm more worried about overall care stuff, and the right way to approach it. if that makes sense.
