Agent or Assistant?
Hi. Everyone. I have wanted to become an agent for a while now and I have just a few questions regarding my possible career. 1) Do you think it is best to start out as an assistant with a license or just jump all the way in as an agent? 2)Do you think it is better to take the pre-license courses in a classroom or online? I have a daughter with special needs and at the moment, I am not able to committ a lot of hours in an office. I can work from home but because of her insurance I need to stay
with the job I currently have for a little while, so I was thinking more "part-time" to begin with if that is possible. Any advice you all could give would be greatly appreciated. Especially about a good online-course. I have found a few but would love to hear some endorsements. I'm just trying to break into this business.
Thanks!!

Getting paid to learn is always a good idea.
If you work part time for the right agency, you can pick up a lot
of useful information. And remember, startup costs getting into
licensure and business can be substantial. Also, it can be months
before you get paid.
Best wishes.

I agree, this is a tough market to be a new Realtor in. I would start off as an assistant and gain knowledge. Learn what to do and what not to do. Stay on forums like this and keep learning.
As far as the class goes, everyone is different but I think if you want to really learn take it in person. If you want to just get it out of the way, take it online. I think the state test will be a lot harder if you take the class online.Mike Taylor
