Average Income for Real Estate Assistant
I'm trying to research what the average income is for a real estate assistant with a license and I'm hoping someone here can help answer this question for me. Thank you.

My last year as an assistant I made $65,000 - I was paid $12 an hour plus bonuses on each closing. I recieved medical insurance, cell phone allowance, car insurance reimbursement and gas reimbursement.

Thank you, Thesa. I appreciate your information. I'd also welcome anyone else's comments on this question. I am still attending classes, but I am just one semester away from getting my license. The thing is, I feel I need more experience as well as a steady income right now. Later I might go to work as an agent for a broker but for now, I believe as an assistant I could learn more and possibly become a better agent in the long run, if becoming an agent is what I choose to do.
I just don't want to go into an interview and be asked what's the minimum hour wage I would expect without having any idea what the going rate is right now. So again, any comments any of you may have would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Assistant
Obviously, there are different types of compensation plans an agent can pay to an assistant. Most that I have seen offer a base salary or hourly wage and then bonuses or a percent of commission from transactions closed.

When I was an assistant - and by the way it is a great way to get your feet wet - you have set hours - you know when the paycheck will be there and you get some great experience. The minimum wage in Oregon was something like $7.00 - my bonuses were varried by the sale it went something like this.
$25,000 - $100,000 - $25.00 (per side) if we had both sides these doubled
$100,001 - $150,000 - $50
and so on - it did cap out at $750,000 I got a $500 bonus per side.
We closed on average 35 million a year in sales, and I was the only licensed assistant and knew how to do everything as well as the person I worked for.Thesa Chambers
