View Full Version : About to take the California Brokers Exam
I finished the classes up a while ago, sent in the application and paperwork, and finally I got something back telling me that I can select a date for my brokers test. I went the route of having a 4-year degree instead of having 2-years experience, so I never first became a Salesperson.
I have 2 questions:
1. How hard is the brokers exam? Anyone take it recently?
2. I heard they were changing the rules about only needing a 4-year degree + 0 experience. They were going to require experience regardless. That is why I opted to get my brokers license ASAP. Anyone know how much truth there is to that?

The california broker exam is hard I have takin it a few times last friday was the last and pulled a 74% I will be taking it again on the 10th. My advice is to just study if you have a test prep software keep going over the exams. Good luck
Thanks for the reply. What do you need on it to pass? an 80%? Is it done on a computer? Do you find out what you got on it right then and there?

You need 75 to pass, your anwsers are done on a paper answer key it takes about a week to find out the results!
Oh man. I am about to set a test date. I am nervous now!
I passed the LEED exam (if anyone knows what that is...) so I feel confident that I can pass this Brokers exam.

Yeah I've heard that it is difficult. I bought the study guide a few months back and was surprised at how much more reading there was from when I got my sales person license 5 years ago. As to your question about need for experience, I'd check with CAR or the school you bought your study guide from to be certain. Good luck!
Well, my test is a week from today. I just started studying this morning. I feel like I already know most of the stuff, but some of the topics are really specific which might be trouble.
Do you get results through the mail? or email? I am excited.
My test is 12 hours from now. I guess it is two 2.5 hour sessions that are 100 questions each. I studied a lot this last week so I think I am pretty well prepared...
Just took the exam today. That was a little more difficult than I expected. It will be interesting to see the results!

Did you take the AM 961 and PM 960 or the Am 941 and the PM 940?
I believe it was the AM 945 and the PM 944?
Have you passed the exam yet?

Hummm thats a new one then, My last score was 74% taking it again a week from friday.
Wooooo Hooo!!! Passed!
I was just thinking how I probably didn't pass when I went and checked my results for the 100th time just now. I guess I got lucky! It must have been super close... Or a typo.

Congrats....Hopefully next fri when I take it Ill pass too =)
Thanks!
Good luck on yours. While taking the practice exams, I found my initial reaction to a question was usually the right answer. If I think about a question too hard, I usually make it more complicated than it really is and change the answer to something that is wrong.
When I went over my answers at the end of each test, I only checked for reading mistakes such as "which of the following is NOT...". I really tried not to second-guess myself because I knew my intuition was usually right, based on the practice exams.
