Changing Brokers - N. California

So, I am looking for advise... I am changing brokers for the second time in a year (first time due to fee changes and second time because I wasn't active enough for them), and I don't know what the best option for me is.

I work part time out of my home office and work mostly with buyers who find me off my website. I don't do a lot of work, but I do get a few leads a month that I show houses to. I am a realtor because I enjoy looking at houses, meeting people, and it gives me the freedom to be home with my kids (not to mention make a little extra $$ for "fun money").

Anyway, so I am looking for a broker, here are a list of my wants:
- Low Fee (even fee per transaction is fine)
- Maintain my Metrolist Access/Website Access
- Able to Show homes myself (I enjoy this so I don't just want to refer).
- Understands that I do this part time.

Anyone have a suggestion :confused:

Hi Sarah,

When you call around to talk to brokers, be very clear with them that you are first and foremost a stay-at-home mom. That you enjoy selling homes on the side and mainly work with your own leads and sphere but that you will not be prospecting daily and making tons of sales. You want a relaxed environment that will be happy with your part-time interest. Once you are clear with this, they will telll you up-front whether or not this is acceptable to them. The best offices to search for will be the smaller, more family-oriented ones. The big companies and franchises will generally be reporting to corporate entities that require minimum standards. The mom and pop shops are gonna be your best bet, privately owned and happy to have someone producing for them even if only part-time. :)
