I'm really surprised that such a big industry hasn't had any recent posts, so I'll start off the discussion in the hope that some of you will participate..

Does anyone know what percentage of buyers of property in the US actually decide to rent the property for vacation rentals?

How about a partnership between vacation rental companies and real estate companies.. where if the real estate company is dealing with a buyer who wants to rent the property for vacations they direct them to the VR company in return for commission?

In the UK they are over 600,000 residents who own property abroad, with a high percentage of these owners buying property in the US, and especially in Florida.

Your thoughts appreciated

Darren,

We have a client who has started to do just that. Their main focus is North Carolina Vacation Rentals (http://www.accessthebeach.com), but they have just hired a full time real estate agent to sell Topsail Island Real Estate (http://www.donsells.us).

So many people now are not just vacationing, but going to many places in their quest to find the place they are going to want to hang their hat in the future.

Well my knowledge is in marketing vacation homes for rent, rather than buying, and I'm looking to promote my site more in the US, so if they are any REs interested in working with me then let me know.

Hi Darren,

Great that you are a marketer and not an agent. I'd research the web for any and all directories that allow you to list your website for free. In doing that you might increase your websites traffic and get some good leads.

You could also try PPC marketing or even direct marketing for better results. I know a lot of people in Norway travel to spain in the winter and a lot have homes in spain. You could try doing some ppc campaigns in the UK for people searching directly for properties abroad.

Feel free to list your properties on realestatebay.net - if they are in the US.

Regards,

Jeff

What area do you feel would be the most profitable area to invest in vacation rentals?
