Not much more but few SB sites are useful and secret that how much you are getting traffic through SB sites ( Referring Traffic ).
You need to have quality back links with the social book marking.
Google does not consider many social book marking websites.
Than it goes waste of time as well as money spent on that work.

The system is down??? I thought Social Book Marking Sites only give you instant traffic and few back links.

There is definitely a "sugar rush" effect with the search engines, and the bookmarks, unless they're "stoked" regularly fade after a while, but that said, I still pull up squidoo pages and other "link bait" pages that I've set up for clients a year and a half later.
I think even the no follow ones are worth posting too, google loves those sites, they're a total pulse on the web so why wouldn't you post there if it gets spidered daily.

Sometimes inbound links can decrease the possibility of being ranked on Search Engines. Make sure that you submit your URL to those sites with high PR, if the SB site has low PR then don't submit, otherwise if you want visibility you can still submit your URL just make sure that your site ranks high.

There are such things as "bad links" but I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're trying to be sneaky and using automated link building, comment spamming software and have a huge amount of identical (looks suspicious, like a bot created it) content linking back to you.
If google was to bring down your pagerank because you were on some spammy link farm, then all you'd have to do to knock your competition off the first page of google is to put up a handful of links on porn link farms or other places that are less than reputable (smilies for your email anyone?).
Pretty much any link back to your site is a good link, now that said ... some links are better than others.
In this order:
The Higher the page rank of the site linking to you, the better (but it doesn't mean PR2 websites won't help you)
Anchor Text Keyword link are always better than "click here" or "website" links
