What is appropriate to put on your blog? Are there certain things that are off limits?

Only include the things you wouldn't mind your Mother, or your Daughter reading.

the best thing to put in your blog is whatever you think. As from the definition the blog is just an online diary of yours/your company.
If it is personal put your thoughts about anything you think. if it is company blog put your company's policies, achievements, new announcement, new launches, forth coming events, etc.

You can design your blog along with putting links into it so that it looks more professional.

Thesa's right. Real estate blogging is about being the local expert and finding a unique voice.

Though it's a little off-topic, here a few other blogging tips:

1) Use pics in every post. These can be nice shots of available properties that are clickable so interested buyers can find out more. But don't put a big red "price reduced" banner across the pics. That's tacky and off-putting.

2) Select a template that's tailored to women but palatable to men. Soft colors, lots of white space, etc. FYI, white is sub-consciously comforting--so say the shrinks.

3) Blog regularly. Post at least weekly, if not two or three times a week. That may seem like a lot of work, but it will pay off if you're posting quality content. Remember, your entries don't have to be long to be effective. Throw out a couple of quick thoughts with links to cool articles, etc. It's not rocket science.

4) Use keywords in your posts. No, you shouldn't load up each entry with so many keywords that your content becomes incoherent and annoys your readers. But you should use enough keywords to help your posts get picked up by Google and friends.

5) Digg your posts. Digg is a user-submitted content community that will help you get noticed by folks searching for real estate content. You should also add a few buttons at the bottom of each post, that allow folks to spread your content. Check out the submission services listed on this forum and add a few of them, especially Digg.

Write articles and or blog posts that your site visitors will find informative should they land on your website/blog.
