your site can't have any "under construction" yada yada...

also, you have to register sites with google first, before applying to adsense program.

when you've actually managed to be approved (not hard) - then it depends on the template you're using and where you can place the ads - with word press you'll need plug-ins or a good theme that allows for portions of the site specifically dedicated for google ads...you'll see

<!--put a google ad here--> or something like it in the template.

and i'd say that the average depends on the topic or content of your site - for real estate, the average click is about a .50...but when you get the right PPC's...wow... they can be as high as 3 bucks for one click.

>>but when you get the right PPC's

How? My understanding is that Google automatically put ads at your site, right? Can we configurate the Google Adsense to show the ads we want?

yes. you can block certain ads. choosing them, that's pretty much done by the site crawler.

depending on how many people are competing for the terms you are using, it can be well over $2/click. Play around with it and you can find ways to get your clicks down under .25. It's the main "real estate" words that get expensive.

Yes, it is to the higher "bidder". 'Real Estate' is more expensive than 'dwelling' for example, because more people choose real estate to search real estate than dwelling...

Google puts ads on your site related to the content it finds on your site. Having good targeted content will help you get the right ads to display. I don't know of any way to select which ads show on your site, but you can keep certain ads from showing.

Will blocking ads bring your price per click down? It seems to me that most of the ads before I blocked were from competing realtors. I would think they get shown because they are paying the most per click. So if I block them I am letting ads with lower cost per click get through. Is this right?

It can, but you have to weigh the cost of people leaving your site against the potential earnings from the ads. If you have pages on your site that relate to other high dollar key words you can still make good revenue. For example: a 'Home Finance' or 'Home Insurance' themed page would still bring in good revenues - these terms are high CPC.

Depending on keyword. Mortgage keywords are most expensive in real estate market, i have been paid $5 dollars for each click through my mortgage sites.

agrees with gorseo, You guys should really emphasis studying up on keyword selection as this is the most important factor in determining how much you get paid per click. There are some great tools out there that do this.

It all depends on the content of your website.. as for RE.. I have seen 5 cent up to $2.77

Dont try to make a living on adsense... adsense its a good thing to take care of your web site expenses, but then again... some webmasters do generate a six figure.. as the "handy man website" fetured on USA TODAY!.

Its not easy to make lot of money from adsense unless you have high traffic website which does not sell any thing (basically you dont care if user leaves the site) also that you are not advertising on Pay per click.

A keyword like homes for sale in boston will cost approx $3 on PPC, you paid $3 to get the visitor on your site, the visitor saw an advertisement on your site "NO commission Realty" he clicked on it and gone to your competitor website, for his click you got paid $2.

When you do the math you just lost $1 and possible sale.

Now on the other hand if you have 5 different site with 1000 peoeple visiting them each day like forums, articles, social networking and you place your adsense properly you can make few thousand dollars on side.

That’s exactly right goreseo. PPC and CPC can help drive your site traffic and generate income through referrals, but be careful. Just look at advertising in conventional retail stores. You don't walk into Best Buy only to see signs that say "Huge Sale at Circuit City!" Even if Best Buy had better prices, most consumers would go where they think they can get a better deal.:)

Several factors set how much an Adsense publisher receives. Only Google know the exact way they calculate it.

The factors are:

Advertiser bid on the content network
Niche itself
How long the visitor is on your site before clicking
Where did he come from to your site
CTR

Probably there are more but these just come up to my mind now.

it really depends on the keyword and the advertiser of the ad that is being clicked on your site.

VancouverRealEstate

it varies widely but is generally over .50. Also, be careful about being smartpriced as that will affect your revenue.

my site foreclosurelook.com gets between 0.15 to 1.50 a click, average click is about 45c. all depends on your contents, i know some higher paying real estate keywords I could be implementing, but it's not worth messing with the integrity of the site

.45 is not bad... granted that more is better, but .45 per is not bad. Now the trick is to get a high click through rate.
