does anyone have experience with some offshore strategies for real estate? Could you recommand a book or some website? There is a lot of info on the net but I just don't know whis is relevant...

There are both advantages and disadvantages, it depends on what your business purpose is to determine what is right for you.

I assume you are speaking of holding US property. The IRS treats foreign holding companies differently than domestic. A good real estate attorney could help you depending on what your objectives are. It may turn out that there are other options that would better suit your objectives.
