Homes on slab looked down upon?

I just found a home and it is brand new in an area of older homes. The standard is 3 beds/1 bath, but this has two baths. It is on a slab where many of the other homes have a basment, but they are unfinished and unused. The square footage is the same as the others with the basements.

main question: Are home buyers hesitant to buy a home on a slab?:eek:

In short yes. Especially if typical homes in the area have basements. The basements are used primarily for storage so they can park their cars in the garage. Most people who live in the Midwest want to park their cars in the garage.

Homes on a basement sell faster. People tend to go for them, eventhough most basements in my area remain unfinished for decades. The fact that your home has 2 baths is a big plus. You really just have to pay attention to the price of the property.

Does anyone know where you can find statistics for this kind of questions, like - characteristics of sold property around an area and prices, so you would be able to analyse?

Steve1111111111111....LOL @ the 1's! You could probably find an agent to help figure out what has sold and what had a basement and crawl space v. slab. You would need to make sure it's worth their time to do it though...

So if you have a house on a slab v. houses in the neighborhood that have crawls and basements, doesn't that make the slab a HUGE negotiating point that could really effect the selling price? I smell a huge discount here!! :D
