Please clarify what CPA stands for. Does this stand for cost per action advertising? or are you a tax guy? Thanks.

I would be a tax guy. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you.

Thanks,

John

I have a family member who has a home based business and is having a house built and moving in soon.

What tax write offs will he qualify to use with his busines being in his home:

I thought: ( He will have dedicated rooms for the business )

Internet Service

Telephone

Can you deduct some of the electric? How does that work?

Can you deduct the Brinks Security System? (invested in these because of the equipment for the business for security and power surge protection of the lines)( he lives in FL alot of power outages seasonal)

Anything can be done with Mortgage Payment, Taxes and HOA fees? Just hoping?

Appreciate anything you can share. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Well, pretty much everything you mentioned would be deductible. There are certain rules to deducting those expenses. The main rule being that any home office must be used exclusively for business. They would be allowed a pro rata deduction based on square footage of their house.

See Form 8829 Home Office Deduction and related rules.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

John
