Hey!
I am running a website on International Real Estate. We currently have got 2,500 unique visitors a day. Would it be a good idea to introduce a paid listing service on my site?
Many thanks

What do you mean by would it be a good idea to introduce a paid listing service? Do you mean charging others to list on your site?

You probably need a little more traffic than that...but it would be a good start with those stats.

Hey!
That is exactly what I meant :)
Thanks

You could try especially, if you pay someone else to generate this traffic))

You should add it - maybe it would be a good idea to add a free one for start, let people register, list some properties, maybe a limited number of listings and charge after 1, 2 months.

The one for free has been on the site since the begining:)
Many thanks

How many people used it ? I'm not sure about that stats, but i'd say that more than half of the people who used it would pay for it if you start charging on it

We have loads of submissions every day. 2,500 is a number of unique visitors a day, not a number of submitted listings. I wish it was :)
Many thanks

I'd say 2500 unique visitors/day it's a medium-to-big number. If you have a paid service, most changes are that people will use it. You could also keep the free one and give more advantages on the paid one

How do you check the number of uniques visitors/day ? google analytics ? you have your own tool to check it ?

We have got our own scripts that check this.
The idea of keeping both i.e. free and paid is really good. We might use it.
Many Thanks

If you have a free one, people will use it to see how it works, if they have any benefits out of it. As soon as they see they do, if you give them more advantages on the paid one, they'll most likely register on it

OK, I will take this option under careful consideration :)
Have you got any idea how much could I charge? What price would be reasonable ?
Many thanks

How many listings are you getting on the site at the current "free" pricing?

I'm not sure about the price, but it should depend on the number of listings the customer can add, where do you add them(top, middle, bottom), if there are featured listings(which should show up on most pages) and many things like that. You could ask them to pay by the number of listings(say a price/listing). But before you set a price, you should check how many benefits a customer will have if he pays you

We get around 80 - 100 listings per day.

Are there users which submit more listings ? Meaning you have one which submits 20-30 listings. Because it's not very likely an user which submits 5-10 listings to pay for it, but someone who submits like 30-50 listings/daily might pay on it

Yes, we have got users who submit large number of listings on a daily basis.

Charge a fee for each month, or based on number of listings.. :)

That's good maciekjed. To my guess, the ones who submit large number of listings would be the ones who are going to pay on it

OK. Thanks for all the responses. We will have to analyze all the options and then choose the best one. Cheers
