I think we have 2 or 3 sites that show up for real estate blogs. I dont think we get a lot of traffic from that phrase but hey every little bit counts. I personally like to use of blogs its a good way to get information to propective clients fast and easy when they are looking to purchases homes. It is also a great real estate listing tool.

yeah, I have not even looked at our stats on traffic from that...I am sure it is negligible. Right now we are using the blogger.com setup to put fresh content on a number of sites each day. We are displaying the most recent post on the home page of a few sites that then links back to that post in the blog area. It seems to be working well to help get all of that content crawled and show "fresh" content on the home page each day.

That is a very good idea, to show the latest post from a blog to the homepage. I could see maybe where it would drive some consumers to your real estate blog as well as helping to get it spider.

That one confused me as well, can you explain what you mean.

are you referring to this? http://www.google.com/googleblog/2005/01/preventing-comment-spam.html
it is about blatant blog spamming, doing meaningless posts to get backlinks to sites having nothing to do with the content of the blog.

Advertising is advertising, spamming is another thing. Real info will survive and always be validated just like on this forum.

Whenever a strategy helps search engine rankings, people get wind of it and start overdoing it and the wrong people abuse it. Then when awareness comes, everyone tends to get paranoid.

I remember when John Scott's bluefind was the directory to submit to with it's PR7 and now it is not even indexed in Google.

The best thing is to make sense with every action you perform. It may not skyrocket you to the top but if you do things right, you will still get up there and most of all stay there.

heh, noticed that I am not ranked up there anymore.

ST, did you use your special decoder ring to figure out that post?

I think Mike is referring to the nofollow tags now implemented on some blogs.

This is for when someone post a “Comment” to your blog in order to stop spammers from abusing your blog.

It has no effect on the links that you place on your own blog, just on links that someone else uses when they post a comment.

Let’s not overlook the fact that Mike gives some good advice here about posting in general. We all need to use common sense when posting to a blog or forum. If we take the time to post unique content that is relevant to the blog or forum we run little or no chance of SE penalties.

Side Note: We all get in a hurry and throw up some quick post (I know I do), but the more we contribute to the content of say this forum, the more relevant it becomes in the SEs and the more we all benefit as members.

Hope that helps.
