My guess is rock bottom May-June 2008...

If you are going to be in Atlanta for a while don't worry about it. Lose of value is only realised if you have to sell. If you will be there for 5-10 years you will realize a profit.

Check your local real estate boards month to month figures for a good indication of the trend in your area.

I am always leery about predictions. When I first started in the business the next 10 years went all downhill. No one predicted that one and there were so many expert opinions. Like the other poster stated if you're going to stay for a while you will most likely realize a profit.

It's tough to time your primary residence. Usually, with all the other benefits its better not to do so unless you are betting on a strategy of upgrading in a certain period of time.

In a National level, I think you'd probably see a continued decline in prices. Where it will end is anyones guess.

Take care,

Just go with your gut. Pay attention to the pro analysts too.

I think the home value in other state might lower because there are not that much population are living out there. The state that i am most pretty sure is that NEW YORK will certainly increase the price of housing. Although right now there seem to have decline no matter where the house is located in United States, but the more immigrants come to United States, then the demand for housing will simply increase, especially with the Chinese people that love to live in NYC.
