What can I do to introduce myself to my community? I had just received my license about a month ago nad I am working for a small real estate company.

The most common and effective method is to print and mail postcards or letters with some useful information about your local community's real estate market with your name contact information and maybe a photo of yourself.

Umm...ok, but you might have your postcards going straight to the trash.
I suggest you get the same postcard or something else than a business card, maybe a little gift WITH your business card...and knock on the doors. Yes, go saturday and/or sunday and knock on door. Talk to people, offer the gift and play the whole plain "I'm new, I'm motivated, I'll do whatever it takes...give me a chance" kind of stuff...
It's always better face to face, smile, a little joke in the middle, be comfortable, make them comfortable...

You could send out personally named letters to house owners. If that info is not available use house numbers and zip codes

You know the "UPS" sticky notes they leave on the doors? If you had one, wouldnt you want to read it because you think its important? try that one.

Start with fliers and banner ads, this will give more exposure in the local community. Besides, if you can buy air time on the local radio for brand building it will really help in the promotion.

Spend NO money and go out and knock on expired listings doors, introduce yourself and see if they still want to sell there house. Its the only way to do it. Bulk mail etc goes straight into the trash!

I like the knocking door to door also.
In our community they send out cards that say a house sold on your street and list the amount and ask if you want a CMA of your home. People call to see what there home worth and thru that meeting you may get a sale or a contact to another person who wants to sell.
Do a real estate website.
Get out there in the community. Go to town hall meetings talk to people. Join a local charity club lots of contacts. Take an ad in local papers or newletters. In our town if you go to the local eatery does a world of good and chat with people especially the owner. Talk to local business go in introduce yourself they have contact with everyone in the community.
Get some business cards to display in local business that approve.

The key is a good website. Fill it will useful information that pertains to your specific community and then get the word out to everyone in your area. I like all the ideas mentioned, but make sure you use those ideas to drive people to your website. Provide something that will make people want to come back to the website time and time again. Good Luck!

I like the ideas with postcards and doors, but i also agree with the site ideea. First ones are to make yourself noticed in short time, with a good site people from different ares will find out about you. You have to make yourself noticed in the community.

Host a community event, go to other community events. Always wear your badge, carry business cards and talk about real estate.
Go for a walk or bike ride in neighborhood, be creative in what you wear (hat and t-shirt color, something that makes you get noticed) talk with everyone. A dog works nicely as a ice breaker...
Whatever you do, make it personal, make it different and do it in person.

I would do more than one thing. There has been some good ideas posted, try all of them. Getting involved in groups will give better personal exposure.

From what I have read and personally seen with Realtors in my area, a good website that is promoted well is becoming more and more important to increasing awareness and credibility. Of course there are other methods to try, but this seems to be the best to get the majority of people in your corner.

door to door idea s good but there are people who will think your not professional and informal so i think advertising thru computer will be great since were in computer generation most people can appreciate that.

First off I would like to say Thank You to everybody here that had helped me through my first few months as a Real Estate agent. My question is What do I need to have before going door to door? What kind of information?
