Hi, my name is Jason Williams and I had just received my Real Estate Sale license about a month ago. I know the market is kinda bad right now but do you have an advice for me? What kind of marketing can I do at this point? I am working for my cousin he owns a small Real Estate Company and he's been very successful but he never build a website so when I joined the Market Place Real Estate team I decided to build a website. Now we have a website up and running. Anybody know how I can increase traffic?

What about adwords? If you try that, let us know the outcome...

Jason, I am new in this forum as well, but wanted to welcome you! Increasing site traffic is something that everyone is trying to do right now (or should be trying to do). I would definitely speak with someone who spealizes in driving traffic (SEO professional), and try out PPC campaigns.

If you are looking at ways to increase exposure, then you should look at traditional methods as well as online marketing. I am in the UK, so some of the marketing tools may be a little different to the US.

In the UK estate agents (realtors) advertise in the local papers, whether that be specific properties or that the company has a special offer...capped % sales fee...or something like that.

Adsense is fine but you can spend a fortune and not get anywhere. Look at your website, and make sure the content is specific to your market, making sure that your designer has used good clean code.

If you need any more help, drop me a PM

By the way although I am in property I am the owner of a web development company...

Never like all my eggs in one basket :)

There are other free classified adds site that you can try advertise: Such as Inetgiant.com, USfreeadds.com and usfreeads.com. Write articles on real estate with links to your site. Ensure that your content is fresh, The web spiders love rich content. Ensure that where you pt your link in the article, actually blends in with what you are writing. Example if you should write: For a list of four bedrooms houses with patios you can visit (here put your site address) Instead of . Four bedroom houses are in high demand" yoursiteaddress" You get the drift. IT should make sense. Give the reader a reason to click. Also bare in mind keywords. Do carefull keyword research even prior to starting your site. This is essential. Bare in mind that your site vshould be design with the aim of solving a problem. Keywords such as cheap houses, Remember long tail keywords. They are not used frequently however they will help to put you on top. Example. If I am loacted in New York and I am looking a house to buy/rent in Newyork, The best search for me would be " renting four bedroom house in Newyork" or I could rephrase it.Hope this helps

Jason,

In response to your question about marketing - a good way to set your self apart from the competition is to use floor plans as a marketing tool. Most agents use pictures, virtual tours, advertising, how many use floor plans? Not many and they can be emailed anywhere and posted to IRES. Buyers and sellers love them. Not hard to create yourself and there are plenty of affordable software programs that will produce an impressive plan.

jasonqlwilliam, can you give us a link with your site ? Let's see how it looks ? As a start, what do you have on it? An iframe, a third party idx, a custom mls? The traffic you could get on it deppends on those as well
