Looks good.

I would point the "Home" menu option to your main domain though.

Good luck...

Sorry for my stupidity....but what do you mean?

When I click on the "Home" button on the left-hand menu, it goes to http://www.pei-propertyforsale.com/Home/page_199437.html

It'd be better if the links is http://www.pei-propertyforsale.com/ instead.

As far as the search engines are concerned, these two links are different. And, you;d want as many links (internal or external) to your main URL, which is http://www.pei-propertyforsale.com/.

I hope this clarifies my earlier comment.

Thanks Justice..that makes sense. forgive me as I am a total newbie when it comes to websites and all that goes with it. I understand what you are saying, but have no idea whatsoever how to change that!

Hi Carol,

I haven't spent a lot of time on your site but at first glance I really like what I see. It is pleasant and easy on the eyes. You have a lot of information yet the site does not appear cluttered or too busy. Things seem to flow well and orderly making navigation smooth and easy. Does Steve have another picture or can that one be lightened up a bit on your computer and reloaded?? Over all as a surfer I would say it's a winner.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I will work on Steve's picture to see if I can lighten it up.

How many posts before I can graduate from being a fixer upper???

Welcome to the forums!

Quite a few. Condo is next I believe. Maybe 50 or so, becasue you leave your condo at 100 posts, and then...

I remember when I couldn't wait to get out of my condo. :D

Anyways, feel free to add a signature to let everyone know a little about yourself, maybe add a couple of links, etc. PM me if you need help setting it up.

Hi Carolo:

Your site is clean and well laid out in appearance. Green and white are crisp looking, very professional. You provide a great deal of information about the sales people which - if I were a potential customer - I would like to read. :)

I would add a nice pic of PEI. Its so gorgeous there! Of course, the obvious. Add more content. Content is still king.

great idea about the picture of PEI. It is definitely beautiful here. When you say add content...do you mean more articles? What sort of content. I am totally new to websites and building them...etc. So any sort of advice and feedback are hugely appreciated! Very very helpful. Now I just need to find time to make some changes!

Thanks again!

Hi Carol

Your site looks great but....

I look under the covers - and I've got some major issues with your home page - I've haven't looked further than that

Get rid of those home page links (http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/blog/bad-home-page-links/)
Protect your email addresses (http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/obfuscate.php) on the page from scammers
What is the form at the very top of the page. Your page isn't cached and you'd have to wonder if that is the reason. The form isn't visible so I suspect that it could be moved to the bottom, off the page etc
You have javascript scripts being linked to "mid page" they should be in the head section.
You have a stylesheet but then it's not used 100% of the time and you have styles on the page.
You have more than one h1 tag on the page
<DIV><FONT face="Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif" color=#000000 size=2>Morais &amp; Yoston: <STRONG>Real Estate Group</STRONG> is a top producing team of <EM><STRONG>real estate professionals</STRONG></EM> servicing Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province.&nbsp; When you work with Morais &amp; Yoston:<STRONG>Real Estate Group</STRONG> you are not working with just one <STRONG>real estate</STRONG> agent,&nbsp; but rather a whole team of <STRONG><EM>real estate</EM> </STRONG><EM><STRONG>professionals</STRONG>.</EM>&nbsp; Our record speaks for itself.</FONT></DIV>code like this is really spammy
The stylesheet should be controlling those mouseovers on the left hand menu
The image preload should be run from a separate javascript file (so it can be cached) and that javascript file should be dynamically created when you change the images. It shouldn't be on the page.

Take a look at your homepage using the Poodle Predictor - your information is visible, it's just jolly hard for an indexer to get it

The company you are using does alot of real estate sites, they should be committed to getting their underlying architecture right.

Sarah,

Thanks so much for going to all that work in looking at my site. But I don't know what any of it means! sorry to be such an idiot, but I know nothing about html or javascript or tags or any of that stuff. That's why we have a template site...

I copied and pasted your comments on to their message board to see if someone on their support staff could help.

I guess I will have to get educated on this stuff.

It seems so complicated!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again though..appreciate it.

Hi Carol

I never expected you to "understand" it, but yes, I did hope you'd hand it back to the developer with a "please explain" attached.

There is always a trade off between a site being easy to manage and a site being technically perfect - you just have to find the balance. I think these guys have some way to go.

The problem is that they consider themselves to be SEO experts. I've been accused of cloaking with my Point2 site and all we can do with these sites is pick a template and add/edit content. That's it. We can't do anything behind the scenes with the exception of creating titles, meta tags and descriptions.

If they're getting the results for you then that's great.

If they're not, well they're not the only company out there...

Makes me wonder if I should diversify ;)

Sarah, I always thought I was reasonably intelligent until I tried learning SEO!

Pont2 was my first foray into creating a website - kind of like paint by numbers. I've created a couple of small niche sites with it and was going to actually scrap my first one but it's been #1 in MSN (used to be #1 in Yahoo, bounces around now & they still have my old domain name up) for several kw's so I'm keeping it around.

My Point2 site does very well for me. www.ScottsdaleAzLiving.com

I haven't even done any serious work on it and I get about three IDX registrations per day.

As far as customizing it, you have an HTML editor. Not only do you get an WYSIWYG editor, but there is an HTML tab you can click on and insert custom HTML, or CSS, etc. into. You can add as many pages as you want, it is in HTML so it's easy for SE's to index all pages, and so much more!

I like the listings sharing thing too! It makes my featured listings page look more active than it would normally be!

There is a lot of flexiblity with Point2 and no I do not own stock. :D

Content relating to PEI. Interesting communities (ones with a lot of sales activity for example), places to go, famous places, famous architecture for sale, etc.

Re directory lists, Dan at www.vilesilencer.com has his directories divided into those that are free, those that require recip links and those that require payment. In this way, you do not have to waste time trying to add your site to a directory that is not appropriate for your needs. Plus - he updates these lists on a regular basis. :)
