Sorry, this is probably not the right place to ask, but none the less I got pretty good advice from here last time.
I was looking for a place to rent. There is this very good appartment that is priced well below market (1500 for a two bedroom in astoria, NY, when the going rate is at least 2000). According to the broker, they cannot sign a lease because the appartment is in the basement, and so he demands month to month payments.
Is there any legislation that does not allow leasing the basement of an appartment in NY?
